Dear Western Students,
Welcome to the 2019-2020 academic year! I hope your first day of classes is off to a great start, and that you are as excited as I am by the opportunities that lie ahead this year to increase our understanding of each other, ourselves, and the world we share.
Supporting your successful journey through Western—from the first day you walk into the classroom, to the day you receive your diploma at graduation, and beyond—is our primary mission, and it’s a commitment shared by more than 2,000 faculty and staff serving in a wide variety of roles. Please know there are many resources at Western to support you in your journey, from academic and career counseling, to mental health and wellness, and myriad ways to participate in Western’s vibrant campus life.
Each one of you is a valuable member of our campus community, and I am always curious to know what we can be doing to make the student experience better. On Tuesday, October 22 from noon – 1:00 pm I’ll be hosting “Sandwiches with Sabah” in the Viking Union Multipurpose Room, an opportunity for me to hear directly from you. I hope you’ll stop by to have a bite and talk with me about your experience at Western. If you can’t make it, please don’t hesitate to say hello and introduce yourself if you see me walking around campus. I am always eager to learn how different students experience Western, and I look forward to hearing from you.
Have a great year!
