Agreement Reached with WAWU
Published On
Dear WWU community,
I am pleased to share some good news. We have reached a tentative agreement with our new bargaining partners, the Western Academic Workers United (WAWU) Educational Student Employees. The agreement now advances to a ratification process, requiring approval from WAWU members and Western’s Board of Trustees.
I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to the student employees who played pivotal roles in representing WAWU or actively participating in the bargaining process. Your commitment to advocating for your fellow students has been truly commendable. Your active participation in such matters is a reminder not only of your dedication but also reinforces the reputation of WWU students as engaged and compassionate citizens.
My gratitude also goes to the administrators and staff who committed their time and expertise toward representing the University's interests and our educational mission with great care throughout the negotiations. And finally, I want to thank the many students, faculty, and staff, who wrote to me about the importance of honoring our students and agreeing to a fair and equitable contract.
I recognize that the last several weeks and months have not been the easiest of times, but I thank you for your support of our university community, and I hope that we can embrace this moment as an opportunity to strengthen our ties and to continue towards our shared vision of excellence and equity.
Kind regards,
Sabah
