Welcome to the 2017-18 School Year at Western

Dear Western Students,

Welcome to the 2017-18 school year!  Whether you are setting foot on campus for the first time or returning home to familiar places and faces, I hope the year ahead is full of engaging learning experiences, self-discovery, and a sense of connection to the community here at Western. 

For those of us who work at Western—more than 2000 faculty and staff serving in a huge variety of roles inside and outside of the classroom—this exciting time of year reminds us of our common purpose, which is to assist and empower your success at Western.

We measure success by advancing three important goals that directly impact your education:

One, we are committed to advancing inclusive success—the success of all students joining Western, to ensure that each of you has the opportunity to be successful at Western and beyond. 

Second, we are committed to increasing Western’s impact in Washington State, by increasing access to our programs and preparing our graduates to make a difference in their communities.

And, third, we continually strive to enhance our academic excellence—the quality of our educational programs and learning experiences for all of you, which I hope was a key factor that brought you to Western.
