State of the University

Welcome to the 2022/2023 Academic Year

Thanks to all of the faculty and staff that attended the “State of the University Address” (SOTU) held on Wednesday, September 28 at 9 a.m. in the Performing Arts Center Concert Hall, where President Sabah Randhawa shared reflections on the past year and goals and priorities for the 2022/23 academic year. The video recording is available on this page for those that weren't able to attend or watch live, and the transcript is available on the Speeches section of the President's webpage. The SOTU was preceded by an informal Breakfast Reception in the Viking Union Multipurpose Room between 7:45 – 8:45 a.m. for faculty and staff. (And ended up being a great reminder to be sure to RSVP!)

The SOTU replaces what was previously called “Faculty & Staff Opening Convocation,” since all faculty and staff awards are now presented at the Celebration of Excellence event in the spring. “New Student Convocation” will continue to be the student-focused event, and took place on Tuesday, September 20, 2022, the day before fall quarter classes began.
